Like our estate, we look to source old vine grown environmentally aware in Jory soil. Bright fruit, cherry pie and more tannin structure creates a wonderfully balanced wine. Aged in ~25% new French Oak for 12 months. Will cellar for 8+ years, but is designed to be drinkable earlier. Winemaker Notes 2020 vintage was sourced from a vineyard a few miles West of our Privé Estate vineyard. The fruit was beautiful and protected by the natural topography from the dense smoke that plagued our area during harvest. Solera refers to an ongoing blend that offers depth, character and complexity that we might not otherwise find in a particular vintage. Each new batch is carefully crafted using the authentic practices of Portugal to increase the ongoing blend by 10% each year. The grapes are left on the vine to ripen as long as is possible, then handpicked, destemmed and a fermentation begins. When the natural sugars have been depleted to the 8% level, brandy is added and the skins are pressed. Enjoy the aged notes of nuts, dried fruit, mushroom pairs beautifully with the bright pop of fruit and acid from the newer vintage.
